Tooter’s BBQ began as a business in the summer of 2002. That was the year that I retired from 26 years of teaching and coaching in public schools. I taught 1 year in Corsicana, 6 years in Temple, 7 years in Belton and 12 years in my hometown of Troy Texas.
The reason I chose a BBQ business was that I had been entering BBQ cook-offs in the central Texas area since 1995 and really enjoyed cooking. My first experience with catering was track meet...Expand for more

When I was contemplating retirement Troy ISD had a 19 passenger school bus for sale. I bought it and turned it in to a mobile kitchen and opened my own version of a Bar B Que business. I have been selling BBQ on Thursday’s and Friday’s since the spring of 2002. I have also been catering wedding receptions, family reunions, birthday parties, church events and school events.
In 2007 my wife Susan retired from teaching and has joined the Tooter’s BBQ team.
Our main location is at 3rd street and Nugent Avenue in Temple Texas. This the parking lot of Garry Graham’s service station.".
